F.A.Q

How Many Movies Are Available on Cinetimes?

The number of movies on Cinetimes fluctuates regularly. Currently, we feature approximately 2,000 titles.

Is Using Cinetimes Legal?

Absolutely. We curate content from external sources, ensuring all are legitimate rights holders or recognized entities. We only synchronize with sources that are either the rights holders themselves, or they have explicitly stated they possess the rights to the content they distribute.

Some examples:

  • PizzaFLIX on YouTube - Known for presenting titles with 100% worldwide commercial audio & video streaming rights.
  • Arte.tv - A respected public service site offering a rich catalog of cultural and cinematic content.
  • imineo on YouTube - A channel that offers a wide range of films across genres.

Should a source not clearly hold rights or lack legal recognition, we exclude their content from Cinetimes. Furthermore, should any channel repeatedly infringe copyright laws, we are prepared to completely remove their content from our platform, though this situation has yet to arise.

How Do You Determine if a Film Is Public Domain?

We are currently developing a method to utilize the Wikipedia API for identifying public domain works and their availability across different countries.

It will work by leveraging the Wikipedia API, which provides detailed information on public domain works, including which countries the designation applies to. It also links to available videos, hosted either directly on Wikipedia or platforms like YouTube, The Internet Archive, and Dailymotion.

The update of our database will happen in tandem with Wikipedia's every two hours. This ensures that any changes regarding a filmโ€™s status or new additions to the public domain are reflected promptly on Cinetimes. Additionally, we respect and implement geo-blocking as indicated by Wikipedia, making certain films accessible only in specific regions.

Can I Contribute Films From My Personal Collection to Cinetimes?

We appreciate your eagerness to contribute, but unfortunately, we cannot accept films directly from personal collections without clear authorization. The pathway for a film to feature on Cinetimes typically involves:

  1. The rights holder or an authorized entity uploading the film to a YouTube channel.
  2. Cinetimes synchronizes with the YouTube channel, integrating the film into our database.
  3. Consequently, the film becomes available on Cinetimes.

This process ensures all content on Cinetimes is legally compliant and properly authorized.
