Synopsis

Michael O'Brien, an Irish seaman stranded in California's San Fernando Valley during Spanish colonial rule, finds himself trapped under the iron fist of the tyrannical Juan Mendoza, who controls the valley's only exit. When Mendoza decides to forcibly marry Maria, the blacksmith's daughter and Michael's beloved, the desperate lovers must orchestrate a daring escape through heavily guarded mountain passes to reach the Governor and bring back troops to free their imprisoned community.
