Synopsis

Veteran stock car racer Mitch Cooper's career hits rock bottom after a brutal crash leaves him injured and broke. When he takes refuge at a small-town garage, he discovers that the young mechanic Les York has raw talent behind the wheel. Against his wife Rene's wishes, Mitch takes Les under his wing and introduces him to the high-stakes world of NASCAR racing. But as Les's star rises on the track, Mitch finds himself dangerously drawn to the beautiful Rene, setting up a collision course between mentor and protégé that will explode at the legendary Southern 500 in Darlington. In the world of stock car racing, the most dangerous curves aren't always on the track.
